One of the most popular events in Brunswick County every year is the annual oyster festival. This year the 32nd Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival is being held from October 20-21, 2012, at Ocean Isle Beach. The event is hosted by the Brunswick County Chamber of Commerce.



This fun festival features live entertainment, a road race, a surf contest, kids area, over 120 arts & crafts vendors and 13 food vendors, North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championships and an Oyster Stew Cook-off. If you’re not a fan of the oyster don’t let that stop you. There are all kinds of food vendors with everything from Greek gyros to cheesesteaks to homemade ice cream (not to mention funnel cakes, cotton candy and burgers and hot dogs). Admission is only $5 for adults and free for children under the age of 8. The festival goes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
