The Azalea Festival Parade continues to be one of Southeastern North Carolina’s largest annual events, with viewers exceeding 100,000 every year.
Our traditional parade route flows right through the heart of historic downtown Wilmington, North Carolina. Floats, marching units and bands, clowns and horses, all highlighted by visiting celebrities, Queen Azalea and her court, and the Azalea Festival Princess await you!
The festival will be hosting the Riverwalk Shag Contest this year. The Riverwalk Shag Contest will take place Saturday, April 8 – Sunday, April 9 at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside Ballroom. Open Dancing will be from 11 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and the Shag Contest begins at 12:30 p.m.. Join DJ Fred Rouse for raffles, vendors, demonstrations, line dancing, and lots more!
