The Annual Ocean Isle Beach Holiday Parade, Tree Lighting & Flotilla takes place on Saturday, November 26, 2011 beginning at 2 p.m. The Holiday Parade kicks off at 2:00 p.m. and is followed by the Tree Lighting on the causeway at 5:00 p.m. Rounding out the afternoon activities will be a visit by Santa to the Fire Department at 5:30 p.m. Also that evening, the Annual Boat Flotilla will make its way from the Shallotte River in front of Inlet View Bar & Grill at 5 p.m. and proceeds down the Intracoastal Waterway to the commercial canal in front of Sharkey’s Restaurant. The parade of boats covered in Christmas lights and decorations is a great way to help celebrate the start of the holiday season. T-shirts will be available. Shallotte Christmas Tree Lighting takes place on December 2, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting for Shallotte is held in Rourk Gardens, which is in front of East Coast Engineering. (4918 Main St.) The tree lighting kicks off the holiday festivities with music and entertainment provided by local school children and residents.
