Local Events For the Holiday Season

Now that the holiday season is upon us, we're counting the days until Santa comes down the chimney to visit the homes of all good little boys and girls.

So much is going on at this time of the year that it's hard not to get swept up in all the excitement. If you're not quite feeling it (or especially if you are!), you should get outside and take in some of the following local Brunswick County events to celebrate the holiday season. We guarantee you'll get caught up in the excitement of the holidays, too, and before you know it you'll be humming Christmas carols with the rest of us.

Season of Light in Sunset Beach

Season of Light at Sunset Beach, North Carolina

Don't miss the Season of Light Holiday Shows at Ingram Planetarium in Sunset Beach!

See many of the world's holiday customs, all of which involve lighting up the winter season - from the burning of Yule logs and sparkling Christmas tree lights to the traditional ritual of the Hanukkah Menorah.

Learn winter constellations and astronomical explanations for the "Star of Bethlehem."

A fun and entertaining show for all ages runs twice a day, once right before the seasonal favorites sing-along show, "Laser Holidays," each Thursday, Friday and Saturday (except Saturday, Dec. 23) and each day from the day after Christmas until New Year's Eve.

Admission

Per-show admission is $9.50 for adults (13-61), $8.50 for seniors (62 and +), $7.50 for children (3-12), and free for ages 2 and under.

The complete tour usually takes about 30 - 45 minutes.
