Tips on Staying Healthy Through the Holidays

When it comes to the holidays, the last thing anyone wants is to spend it being sick. While Sloane Vacations can provide you with comfortable vacation rentals available through the holiday season, you're going to have to be proactive if you want to stay healthy through the holidays.

Take the following precautions so you and your family are able to stay on your feet and enjoy the holiday season to the max!

Before you Leave Home

Medical Check Up

Before you ever leave home for your vacation, make sure you've had a tune-up (ie. check-up) with your physician. Get refills on any prescriptions you may need while away. If you're not already taking vitamins it's a good time to start, especially Vitamin C. And be sure you've gotten your Flu Shot (and your Pneumonia shot, too, if you're old enough).

While you Travel

Whether you travel by air or by the roads, there are a few definite things to keep in mind, if you're looking to stay healthy during the holiday travel season.

Air Travel

By Air

If you're flying into the area, you'll need to be super vigilant about avoiding germs while in the airport and on the airplane. Start taking Airborne prior to the flight. Keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer with you and use it frequently. If you're seated next to someone that is clearly ill ask the attendant for an upgrade.

By Car

If you're driving you'll be able to avoid a lot of the germs involved with air travel but be cautious when dining in restaurants. Use your hand sanitizer on yourself and all family members. Try to keep your hands away from your face.

After you Arrive

Relaxing Walk along the Beach

Once you've arrived it doesn't mean you should let your guard down. Well, not completely anyways. While your vacation rental will have been thoroughly cleaned you may feel better sanitizing it further with sanitizing wipes. Focus especially on anything you'll touch with your hands รข" doorknobs, kitchen countertops, cabinet pulls, faucets, drawer handles, etc.

Drink plenty of water while on vacation to keep any toxins you may encounter moving swiftly through your system. And keep taking those vitamins daily. It's a good habit to get into. Keeping active, breathing fresh ocean air, and spending less time in congested public places are more excellent ways to ensure you'll stay healthy throughout the holiday period while starting the New Year with some good habits in place.
