Upon entering the home, it's cute. Nicely decorated and lots of natural light during the day. The light fixtures seem to be more for aethestics rather than practicality. When we arrived at our designated check in time, a maintenance man arrived almost at the same time. He asked about an issue with the dishwasher. I said we had just gotten here so I'm not sure what the issue is. He said the owner had been here the week previous and said the dishwasher had an error code. No problem, I let him in to take a look. Now what I wasn't expecting was for the owner to have left the dishwasher full of dirty dishes. I would have hand washed all the dishes before any tenant was to occupy my rental. (She did drop off paper products). Anyway, Dan was unable to fix the dishwasher and we had multiple people come in over the course of 3 days to try to fix it. Which it did eventually get fixed after those 3 days. Also, numerous dishes -silverware, cups, pans, etc - were put away in the cabinets dirty and therefore grew mold. The pot holders were covered in dog hair. We had dogs here but it was not their fur. Also there was no vacuum which would be helpful in a dog friendly home. There was absolutely no storage for food in the kitchen. There was limited cabinets so all the food had to be kept on the counter. Another issue we experienced was the air conditioner. When we were eating dinner the first evening the temp in the house got up to 80. We again called maintenance and were told that when they clean the home prior to renters, the cleaning crew will open all the windows and the temp should eventually go back down. It did over the course of the night, but every single day by mid afternoon the temp in the house reached over 80, even with it set to 68. An HVAC crew came out on Monday and told us there was nothing wrong with the unit and it is because there is no insulation in the ceiling that it cannot regulate temperature. We had to keep all the blinds closed at all times so as to not let the sunlight cook the house even more. The HVAC guy told us he recommended to the owner to get ceiling fans in the bedrooms but there is only 1 in the kitchen. The owner also had to stop by to unlock the laundry room for the HVAC guy and she mentioned how we interrupted her watching a WNBA game. Thankfully the HVAC guy did not lock it back up as we would have had to go to the rental office to get a key, which seems silly. Why not just leave a key inside the house to use, or put a keypad on it? The owner also seemingly did not take the trash out on the designated day so the outside trash can was full to the brim when we arrived. The outside shower is not private at all and there is no drainage. The bathrooms are tiny. You can use the toilet and wash your hands at the same time. No joke. My husband's knee touched the vanity when he sat down. The walk to the beach is long. Which isn't terrible but we had some pretty hot weather. Our 10 year old was not a fan and I imagine with younger kids it would be a pain. We ended up having my mom drive us to and from the beach. Neighbors seem to rent golf carts. We would not rent here again. We had a pleasant vacation despite the house so we'll just look for another home to rent next time.
